2023/24 | COYOTES COACHING STAFF

HEAD COACH
 
DARRELL DAVIS

Darrel Davis, Castaic’s head Baseball coach, has lived in Santa Clarita for over 35 years. He
graduated from Saugus High School in 1989, where he played baseball and football.
Coach Davis played baseball at College of the Canyons and one year at Cal State Northridge and he currently
is a Sergeant II for Los Angeles Police Department.

Coach Davis has two Boys.

One of his sons, Devin, graduated from Valencia High School in 2015 where he was a 25 round pick to The
Tampa Bay Rays and The Los Angeles Angels.

Coach Davis ‘s other son Darren, who graduated from Saugus High school in 2021, 

is currently playing baseball at West Virginia State University.
Davis has been coaching for 27 years. He has coached several travel ball teams and he has been
successful at several levels. Coach Davis has also coached the Santa Clarita Warrior program for 15
years. He enjoys coaching and mentoring young adults. He has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal justice
and an Associates Degree in Physical Education.
Coach Davis is delighted to be coaching the Castaic Coyotes to their first varsity season.

FRESHMAN COACH

KYLE MARK

Coach Kyle begins his 1st year coaching at the high school level. He will be the lead Freshmen Coach. 

​

Kyle is a Saugus Alumni, where he played Football and Baseball. He went on to play baseball at South Mountain Community College (Phoenix, AZ) and Clack College (Vancouver, Wa) before injuries lead him to pursue coaching.

​

He began coaching the SCV BLUES, the SOCAL HALOS and the SANTA PAULA HALOS tournament teams from 13u youth level to college level.

​

We are excited to have Coach Kyle on board to develop our Freshmen.

VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH
RUDY VELAZQUEZ

Coach Rudy Velazquez is 43 years old and has lived in Santa Clarita for 15 years. He is currently a Lieutenant for the Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Prisons.
 
He graduated from Grant High School in 1994 where he played JV and Varsity baseball. He continued his baseball career while attending Valley College but due to injuries his baseball advancement ended. He began coaching JV and Varsity baseball at Grant High School for 10 years. 
 
Coach Velazquez enjoys training, teaching, and preparing young adults for higher levels of opportunities and advancements.  He believes in discipline, respectfulness, valuing experiences and one another on and off the baseball field.
